How many versions of me do I have? I like to think I only have one version. There seems to be a co-version that is alive and well. It is a part of me and can be powerful if I do not see it. It tries to remain hidden as it governs my reactions to actions I choose daily. A sentry standing guard to guide me into comfort and safety. Ok, sounds like a book that is already written. It is and that book has shown me the existence of my co-version. The book, ” Stage II Recovery, Earnie Larson.

From this book is the following quote, “we do not change until we have some kind of awakening to the fact that we are going to lose something we are not prepared to live without if we do not change”.

How many times I have come face-to-face with this definition of conversion? Only to be met with my co-version which wants to survive? Many times in my life. I have attended many programs. Been to jail. Been homeless and hungry, broke and sick. I have accomplished stage 1 recovery and never knew about stage 2. Conversion of co-version is the changing of habits. Like the beauty of a new believer in Jesus as the Son of God; conversion must take place. It is the beauty of the Gospel of Salvation through Jesus Christ alone.

Salvation, conversion, is only the beginning. Like stage 1 recovery, many people stop right there. What about the co-version within? Aren’t we responsible for continued work to convert our co-version as well? I think so and I am now actively aware my co-version exists and it no longer can exercise power over me without me allowing it to. Does not mean it is not powerful, it serves a purpose for sure and needs to be retrained. Let the work begin.

I want to clarify the subject of what I wrote could be seen as spiritual. Spiritual authority, spiritual guide, or any form of doctrine that opposes the doctrine of Salvation through Faith alone of the risen savior Jesus Christ. God in the flesh, all man and all God. This is the doctrine I believe.
