Are you a leader or a follower?

To figure out which I want to be or which I already am depends on the situation I am in. It also depends where my thinking is at. I am able to be both the leader and the follower. I think it is easier for me to follow rather than lead. As a leader, there is more responsibility. Especially when other people are involved. As a follower, things are easier if the leadership knows how to lead. It is amazing how many leaders don’t know how to lead. Leadership styles are important to develop, and the leader who uses more than one style is generally easier to follow. The easier to follow leader usually  has a higher success rate enjoyed by everyone.

The micromanagement style is a rigid style of leadership and the levels of stress and frustration by leaders and followers is high. The success is low quality and the goals expected by the micromanager usually are not met. This style affords little freedom for the followers to act independent or have freedom to make own decisions.

The servant leader style is my favorite style of leadership. It encourages teamwork and independence among followers. This style also can be more work for the leader since it demands more relationship between leaders and followers. It requires the leader to come alongside the follower rather than ordering the follower and expecting them to comply. Servant leaders enjoy much better quality of success since there is much more of a personal working relationship instead of the cold micromanager relation.
